John and Abigail Adams Love Letters read by Janet McKenzie and Keith Nelson
The love affair between John Adams and his wife, Abigail, is perhaps the most famous in our country’s history. It is well documented through the saved letters the two sent each other especially during the period when Adams was in Philadelphia lobbying for independence and Abigail was at home in Braintree trying to manage the farm and the couple’s brood of children. The letters read almost like a long distance conversation between two strong willed people very much in love but also keenly aware of the responsibilities that Adams had accepted that forced their separation. They give us a rare look into their minds and their role in the founding of this nation.
